This statue, Buddha calling the Earth to witness, is located at Patan, outside main entrance of “Baglamukhi” Temple. These types of statues are primarily made up of Bronze and could be plated with additional metal like gold or copper.
This Buddha pose which is depicted by the Buddha with legs crossed, the left hand in the lap and the right hand pointing to the ground with the palm facing inward towards Buddha. This pose represents the Buddha’s moment of enlightenment. This sculpture is the cenotaph (and empty tomb) of Francisco Moltó Valor who was the mayor of the city of Alcoy (Spain) in the year 1876 and an important businessman.
The sculptor was Lorenzo Ridaura (1871-1963) when he was only 27 years old. The work represents the three theological virtues: Faith, Hope and Charity.
