This building is situated in the open-air museum of Elsarn (Lower Austria) and was built in 1997. The open-air museum at Elsarn tries to give insights into a germanic farmstad of the 2 nd / 3rd cent A.D. in the area north of the river Danube.
The building shows the main house of a rural farmstad where man and its livestock were living in the same accomudation.

This wooden ‘Green Man’ carving came from the screen in Owston Abbey, Leicestershire, which was an Augustinian monastry. It was cut out during renovations in the 19th century.

The Green Man has been associated with seasonal rebirth and renewal and as such transferred easily into Christian imagery. Built in the Netherlands in 1597, the Roter Lowe (Red Lion) was a versatile 18 gun scouting vessel. Bought in 1601 by the Council of Knigsberg on account of the Elector of Brandenburg. It was in service as a vedette-boat in Pillau from 1602 to 1605 under captain Peter Hintze’s command.
