A Celtic antenna Sword.
Based on a few historical examples. The antenna grip is based on Continental European “Hallstatt” designs, and the “leaf blade” is based on designs found commonly in the British Isles. The size of this sword is broadly faithful to the historical examples, and has a short blade and a small, tight grip.
There are 2 variants- aged, and new. The new version is based on modern reproductions that show a very shiny mirror-like finish. The presented item is a refracting telescope on a tall equatorial mount tripod. The tube is made of wood, the 8 cm diameter objective and the retractable eyepiece are fixed in brass rings at opposite ends of the tube. The spotting scope is attached to the declination axis, which ends in a spherical metal counterweight on the other side. The declination axis is movably attached to the hour-angle axis.
The telescope was of compact size and offered quick disassembly, making it a convenient portable instrument. It was brought to the Astronomical Observatory in Kraków in 1834 by Józef Łęski.
