Das Modell zeigt einen brekziierten Ammoniten aus einer Braunjurascholle der charakteristischen Bunten Brekzie. Durch den Einschlag des Ries-Asteroiden vor ca. 15 mio. Jahren wurde das etwa 170 mio. Jahre alte Meeresfossil zerrüttet und anschließend wieder zusammenzementiert. Die rote Färbung ist auf die Anreicherung von Eisen in den Braunjuraschichten zurückzuführen. A light industrial complex perched on a stoney asteroid somewhere. It has machinery for drilling and pulverizing the interior of the rock, extracting volatiles, and storing them in a geodesic sphere with a docking ring. Freighters stop by at regular intervals to retrieve the goods.
Alongside the refinery are the power, comm and radiator arrays, rising up into space like battle standards. Refineries of this type are often crewed by a small, tight-knit teams on six-month rotations, but in some regions the process may be completely automated and unmanned–save for occasional maintenance by freighter crews as they pass by.
