  Armour from Fluitenberg – a 3D reconstruction 3D Animated Model 2026-07-15
The 3D model presents a digital reconstruction of solid and riveted rings of archaeological mail armour. To create 3D models of the rings, we used polygonal modelling functions of Blender software. In order to record the relevant measurements of the mail rings, we used a list of parameters. This list includes 11 parameters for a riveted ring and four parameters for a solid ring. The accuracy of the digital replicas of the rings was 0.01 mm. The 3D model presents a historical mannequin (a dress form) dating to 1890. The virtual mannequin was generated automatically by using a new method of parametric modelling (for further details see https://doi.org/10.1108/IJCST-06-2019-0093). The values of body measurements were taken from a sizing table published in “The Cutters Practical Guide to the Cutting of Ladies’ Garments” (V.D.F. Vincent, 1890). The measurements of the mannequin are: bust – 40 inches; waist – 29 inches; hip – 43.5 inches. This is a 3D model of an ancient marble statue in the Glyptotek Museum in København, Denmark. It is a sculpture of the Roman emperor Trajan. The statue depicts Trajan in a standing position with pieces of both arms missing from the statue. Trajan ruled Rome from 98 to 117 CE. He was seen as a very benevolent ruler and was most known for projects that benefited the Roman society. Such projects include constructing aqueducts and building public baths.
