Whoa, it’s been a really long time since I’ve posted anything here. So I thought I’d post a little personal fan art project here again. Tried out a new workflow with this piece, which is starting off with a base mesh in Zbrush, sculpt all details, bake the Diffuse and AO in Substance Painter, add Color Gradients to the Diffuse and use that as a base for my Handpainted texture! I learned a lot in the process in regards to zBrush and polishing my Handpainted skills when its about metal and cloth. But I also realised that I end up changing things up a lot in the final stage, which means I still rely a lot on my handpainting! Process: 1 layer, 1 brush (mostly) and a lot of colour picking. This project really helped to teach me how to loosen up when painting
as well as how to choose good colours. I tried to stay as close as possible to the original concept, but I did deviate when
I found interesting shapes during the painting process and wanted to keep them. No AO bake or base, just started
really messy to capture all the hue variations and then slowly sculpted in the shapes :)
