I've been watching these mushrooms grow in a little patch of forest near my house and the #AgisoftNatureChallenge provided a good incentive to see how well they'd scan. I was a bit surprised at how some of the details like the ant colony entrance turned out. All in all, it was a good experience trying to capture something that I might not have attempted otherwise. Model made from 132 12MB images taken with a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and processed in Metashape using “High" quality settings. My daughter found a dead hornet (Vespa crabro) body in our warehouse, and I decided to give this scan a try.
A couple of years ago, hornets made a nest in our yard, and it was pretty much impossible to walk around and not bump your head into one of these.
In terms of scans, the wings are the hardest parts, I’ve remodelled parts of them in Blender, but the work is far from finished.
I’m impressed with what Metashape did with the scanned material.
