I had a personal project to do for school and I decided to create in 3D the 2D Nadja Clauberg’s concept (nadtsu) : https://www.instagram.com/p/BaeGm18ATTV/ I really enjoy to take artwork and do my best to make the 3D look as similar as possible. It is a good way to practice and improve. I explored different type of workflow in this project to see what I prefer and I tried to use Substance Painter to make stylised textures. This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects I’ve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt weren’t my best. I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born! Now for this scene, I did something I don’t often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldn’t get anything that looked “grass” you know? I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future.
