Scanned today in Dallas, TX. Used a butt-ton of images, processed using RealityCapture and simple geometry cleanup in Blender. I’m really aggrivated that the texture seams are so obvious and jarring, I assume that has to do with sketchfab downsampling the original, maybe? I’m not going to redo the UV’s. This is the costume and mask of Medusa, one of the three Gorgon sisters, and who was beheaded by Perseus according to the mythology.
This costume was quite a chalenge both for the matters and the shape. I had to simplify the mesh to bring the poly count to a decent value.
The whole costume is almost 2 meter high and must be quite heavy to wear !

This huge sculpture stands in the middle of Bordeaux (France). When I walked by, I was stunned by this “half flat” sculpture, and shot it with my phone. I was realy impressed by the very realistic rendering, although most of the volume has been flattened.
Another feature worth noting : its proportions take into account the fact that the viewer is on the ground, so that the upper part of the head is much larger than it should be , to compensate for the perspective. This is a technique that has been know for a long time, (used by Michelangelo), but it’s interesting to see how it applies here.
