Made this piece based on concept art called 部落 Mönkhtsetseg by Crispy Mushrooms! This was done over the course of 9 weeks during the CGMA course: Stylized Character Arts for Games with instructor Weston Reid! The character blockout and sculpt were done in ZBrush, retopology in Blender and CozyBlanket, baking in Marmoset Toolbag 4, texturing in Substance Painter and 3DCoat, and finally rigged and animated back in Blender! The class was challenging, but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot! I'm super excited to apply what I've learned in future pieces! Over the course of the summer I made quite some 3D hand painted props for Ashleigh Warner’s CGMA course: Creating Stylized Game Assets.
This is the assignment for the first week, we had to create three cubes with all of them having an unique theme. The focus in this assignment was on creating a texture with two unique sides, focusing on painting.
The cube on the left is a stool, the one in the middle a crate with carrots and the one on the far right is just a ‘tech’ box.

This time I wanted to make something from an actual concept instead of a real object.
I took a lot of inspiration from the modeling and texturing techniques of games like Fortnite, Overwatch and other stylized game.
I’d say stylized is not my strength, but I wanted to try it!
I also managed to rig it and try animating for the first time to give it some spice!
I’m very happy with how it came out at the end, knowing I can constantly improve on essential aspects such as texturing and modeling.
