This time I wanted to make something from an actual concept instead of a real object.
I took a lot of inspiration from the modeling and texturing techniques of games like Fortnite, Overwatch and other stylized game.
I’d say stylized is not my strength, but I wanted to try it!
I also managed to rig it and try animating for the first time to give it some spice!
I’m very happy with how it came out at the end, knowing I can constantly improve on essential aspects such as texturing and modeling.
I want to take the time to thank Leonardo Raponi, Claudio Tumiati, Andrea Orioli, Ilaria Troullier, Alberto Casu, Marco Vergantini and everyone in the “TheScostumati” Discord server who have helped me with various aspects during the making of this project such as modeling, texturing, rigging and animation.

This is a recent project of mine, an attempt to take some old pre-college concept drawings and make something out of them. Ultimately it was an excuse to freehand paint a lot of filigree detail in a couple different styles (one style for the steel parts, another for the wood/pommel). Painting filigree is incredibly satisfying! All the geometry and baking was done in Blender, and the first pass of materials also, then I moved over to Substance Painter for the detailing.
As for the sword itself, the profile is based on a German Landsknecht zweihänder, but with an even longer grip, taking it almost into the polearm realm. For my week 10 CGMA Stylized Game Assets course assignment, I designed and created a cart asset inspired by Kena: Bridge of Spirits made by Ember Lab. I made the concept for the cart in Krita, then sculpted it in Zbrush, 3D modeled it in Blender, and textured it with Substance Painter. My aim was to make sure that the asset would fit in with the game’s environment and art style.
