More information here This model was scanned and produced with a research process that captures surface texture and specularity more accurately - the research is led by Michael Tetzlaff, Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, as part of a research effort that began when Michael was a doctoral student in Computer Science at the University of Minnesota. The work is now supported by an NEH grant, and the grant team includes UW-Stout, Cultural Heritage Imaging, and Mia. The largely abandoned brick stupas (reliquary buildings) and temples were once lavishly decorated with multicolored stucco (plaster) molding and sculpture…
This sensitively modeled Buddha head reflects the meditative calm and somewhat sweet, humanistic quality associated with art of the neighboring Pala dynasty of Bengal, India. Its Buddhist sculptural traditions had reached Pagan by about 1000 CE through the portable mediums of bronze and terracotta.’

The oldest settlements in this region date back over three thousand years and have yielded several important Neolithic objects. While a few ceramic depictions of animals in Neolithic and Bronze Age Thailand are known, this water buffalo, which stands as the centerpiece of the group, exhibits an originality, creativity, and superb workmanship that has no comparison in early Thai ceramic art. I bought a setup for my microscope to use it as a photogrammetry tool for very small objects. I’m not there yet regarding accuracy, but I am pleased with this first results. The photogrammetry C1 I made by mirroring the half that was completely scanned, and I still miss a lot of details, but the reason for wanting to be able to also make photogrammetry models is that I want to be sure about the overall shape of my models. As you can see, even though most of it is the same, especially the transverse processes (the “wings”) have a slightly different orientation. I need to redo the scan to be sure if I need to remodel the modeled C1.
I added another scan made with agisoft with the same set of photos. The scan is totally different somehow, not only in the details but also in the larger features.
(and yes, I’m a perfectionist..)
Edit: added yet another version with agisoft. Used 514 photos and mirrored one half. It’s getting better, even without image stacking. The microsope probably isn’t good enough to do that 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 76836 polygons.
