One of a growing collection, found here: https://skfb.ly/SWRp In photogrammetry there's balance between large f-stop and shutter speed. I think the long shutter speed blew out the ends of the feathers. Well, that and they're translucent.... Feathers are tough. 119 images processed with Photoscan. Side note: Photoscan is 5-10 times slower than Visual SfM (really), but damn, it's texturing is excellent. I wish I could tweak the mesh reconstruction settings, though. My submission for a past Sketchwars theme: redo a classic…
My thought is that something went astray with the Thunderbird between 1963 and 1967. My 3D sketch is a proposal for a different aesthetic bridge between the lovely 1963 body style and the somewhat radical departure of 1967. This took 4 hours to do, completely done in 3D while immersed in VR using Gravity Sketch. I had 2D reference pictures in the scene, but all the ideation of the forms was done in 3D.
This is a non-traditional medium (skipping 2D) so I did a bunch of tweaking with post process effects to give it a more grainy textured paper/punchy colors/rendered look … minus the dabs of white gouache for highlights!
