A low poly Skipray Blastboat, from the Star Wars expanded universe / Legends. This older imperial ship featured a rotating wing, and in the post-OT era more often than not appeared with in rusty brown tones, often operated by bounty hunters or pirates, so I’ve included 2 different colorschemes with this one, aas well as a cockpit interior.
I followed the top view proportions and scale of the original design, but I was curious to try a more streamlined look, with the front wings better integrated into the fuselage. I made a few other changes and also swapped on a turret inspired by the imperial troop transport as seen in The Mandalorian. The old official model was called a GAT-12 Skipray Blastboat, you could think of this as a slightly more lightly armed GAT-10 design, better at atmospheric flight. Still instantly recognizable by any EU fan! A low poly Zeta-class shuttle, as seen in Rogue One and Jedi: Fallen Order! My most detailed texture yet. This model is probably about 85% accurate, although I’ve gone for a more standard imperial gray to match the Lambda shuttle, rather than the black and orange we first saw in Rogue One. Fits in really well with the rest of the Empire’s fleet.
The wings and laser cannon turrets are all separate objects with the correct pivot points to rotate into flight mode. A few areas are very slightly simplified to keep the polycount low, and everything uses the same 2048x2048 textures. It also has a rough cockpit interior just with some glowing lights to add a bit of depth, but if you want to save performance you can delete it and make the windows opaque. Enjoy! Not sure if this is animated or static, I was trying to go for a “looping Idle” sort of motion so you can really soak in the feeling of screaming across the desert in a podracer, rather than a specific segment of the story.
One major focus was getting this optimized to work on mobile VR, and I think I’ve done that reasonably well. Perfect for all your imperial needs!
PBR textures made in Substance Painter. The exterior is 2k, the interior is 1k, the pilot is 512x512.
Cutting in the windows a couple years after the outside model was done made for some very messy topology around them, but the overall ship is still low poly enough, and no one will notice. The glass is also currently single-sided, just to be more performant than trying to have glass with thickness and refraction.
