This project was funded by a fiverr customer. Description before creation: “A stylised backpack with military/camping application, similar to fortnite style, open concept”. The Katana Golf Backpack object came with concept art of a similar katana stabbing through a bag. The aim of this bag was to pad out the brightly coloured objects in the game with some duller colours, I think it did that well, however after working on a large number of objects to re-create the fortnite style, I didn’t use any techniques that I found (such as duplicating the AO layer to give a hash shadow on the base colour texture) as this was made earlier on in production when I was trying to find my feet with the style. Initially, the model was created not as an independent object, but in addition to the scene with weapons. My first task was to conduct research and design on my own, without relying on a well-known brand. I started by studying various styles and types of military equipment to get an idea of the functionality, durability and appearance of such backpacks.
I paid great attention to every detail, such as fittings, pockets, straps and zippers, to achieve maximum precision and realism.
The process of creating the model also involved working with various textures and finishes to give the backpack a realistic appearance. Every seam, crease and detail has been carefully crafted to create a model that looks like a real military outfit.
An important step in creating a 3D model was optimization to ensure optimal performance and realism of the model.
