Was originally suppose to be its own “thing” but about 20% in, i I thought it could work out as being a variant of the cyclops. Lurchling is a small but mischievous underwater Creature that likes to live in shallow water between seaweed and other water plants. There it blends in with the vegetation and waits for it’s prey to appear. But one snack is never enough and so a single Lurchling can decimate the fauna of a swamp drastically and also fights with its own kind about territory.

A concept that occured to me real suddenly one day, that i could vaguely see in my mind and I fleshed out as I went along while trying to preserve spider, bird and harpy traits or something. Thats where “weaver” came from, to refer to the weaving of webs. But if I knew vfx and stuff alike i wouldve iuncluded some kind of web shooting animation. Also found out sometime aftwerwards that a weaver is also a real bird, but not too resembling in my opionion.

This was such a cool project to work on. I made this project based on the concept art from Kyle Corneliushttps://www.artstation.com/artwork/5l2Kz. Everything has a first time well this project was a lot of first times. This is my first time working in zbrush I always wanted to learn how to sculpt and work it down to a useable game ready creature. After making the high poly in zbrush I went to Maya for the retopo this was also a first for me so learned to work with the quad draw tool. When the low poly was done I uv unwrapped in Maya and textured in substance painter. I went back to zbrush for the posing.
