This tower has long since been abandoned by its former occupants and lies in ruin. I used the Warhammer 40k models Witchfate Tor and Dreadstone Blight as my main references for the design of the tower. I started this model in Maya, blocking in all the shapes. Then I moved to ZBrush and sculpted in detail. In hindsight, I wish I had made this a more modular blockout because I ran out of time sculpting each individual piece. After I had sculpted enough to finish baking my Game Res mesh I moved to texturing in Substance Painter. It took a bit of time to get my UV’s laid out well enough to have the resolution I wanted, and I ended up going from 1 texture set to 2 in order to achieve the level of detail I wanted. An 18th century bronze statue believed to be of the Roman Emperor Trajan (mistakenly referred to as Julius Ceasar by several excited tourists who stopped for a selfie opportunity, and did not read the plaque). it is situated next to a section of the London Wall near of the Tower Hill underground station.
Better photography focussing on the whole right arm and left hand would most likely have produced a better end result.
Model was created from 269 photos (probably could of taken more) shot with a Nikon D5300 (using a 18-55mm kit lens) and aligned on High in Agisoft (using medium level dense cloud).

If you have followed my progress for the last 2 weeks you know I don’t just do animals and such but also a lot of technical work. This infographic I made 10 years ago for TNO magazine. I thought it would be a perfect milestone model for my 10.000 followers! It took me 2 weeks to clean up the mess from 10 years ago, and a few extra days to add stuff to make it a real 3d infographic.
