So this is a little experiment I've been contemplating on, inspired by the food assets in Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy 15. I took photographs of an actual meal I cooked, and spliced them in Substance Painter with a few models I specially built from reference. Nasi Lemak is a traditional Indonesian/Malaysian dish, consisting of spiced rice, coconut milk/shavings, a portion of meat (chicken) and fresh prawns, sometimes accompanied by a fried egg. The hardest part was translating the lighting from Substance Painter to Unreal Engine, and I have recreated it as best as I can here in sketchfab. This work was my contribution to retrogasm 2019, well is not on time as you can see but at least is finished, the idea was to recreate a videogame character , I picked captain commando from the 90’s great arcade machine.
The high res model was done in Zbrush, retopo in 3dcoat, texture process in Substance Painter, rigged inside Maya with Advanced Skeleton and finally rendered inside marmoset and for the high res model keyshot (overwatch tribute), some final retouch inside Photoshop.
