This 3D Model is based on the amazing concept art by Rayner Alencar found here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/2xRdaa. I wanted to recreate the concept as 1:1 as I could by modelling and adjusting everything based on the Concept Art. I really didn't want to compromise on anything Rayner made, because this character's concept was just so cool. I tried my best to handpaint in a similar style. I learned so many things in the process of trying to recreate it. I hope I did the original art justice, I really enjoyed making it. The inspiration comes from a cake I saw in a French dessert shop. I really love the pinkness, so I wanted to make a pink cake. The set is modeled in Maya, and rendered in Mari. Some textures such as the biscuit at the bottom of the cake and the plate patterns are made in Photoshop. It was quite difficult to create some Anatomy on this cartoon character, so it can work in a 3D environment and don’t looks to smooth. I had to add some muscles and skinstructure, like scales, so the lights can create more intresting reflections.
