This business-class sedan produced by Alfa Romeo from 1987 to 1998. It was the flagship model of the brand. A total of 273857 cars were produced.
In October 1978, Alfa Romeo, FIAT, Lancia and SAAB came to an agreement to develop separate business class models on the Type Four platform, thus, such cars as the Alfa Romeo 164, Saab 9000, Fiat Croma, Lancia Thema appeared in the development process. . The 164 was designed by Enrico Fumia of Pininfarina. In 1993, the design of the model was slightly updated. I wanted to make a new hellenic thing, but then realised that this may be original Roman design - at least I found no evidence of greek origins of the design. It’s still doric though!
This model is based on the sarcophagus of Lucius Cornelius Scipio Barbatus (clearly a roman guy), and here is the fun fact - the inscription on the tablet was once redone, most likely by one of the relatives of Scipio.
