This little squirrel imp creature is my creation from the second chapter of Zacharias Reinhardt’s excellent scultping for Blender masterclass. Can highly recommend the course for artists looking to become more familiar with Blender’s scultping capabilities.
Original sculpt is ~4M tris in Blender, reduced the model using Instant Meshes to remesh the model, then baked down my high to low poly using Marmoset Toolbag 3, before doing my final texturing in Substance Painter 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 142484 polygons.

After creating the sculpt and low res, I tried to use the colors of the reference, and wasn’t happy with how it looked. I instead used photos of Blizzard’s recent showcase of Kul Tiras in World of Warcraft as a color theme. When used in battle, only a few barrels would be transported to the gun batteries, and gunpowder would be transported to the guns in leather buckets, all for safety reasons, see volume 1 of the “Mémoires d’artillerie” by Surirey de Saint Remy (BnF).
The gunpowder magazine is also surrounded by water and by wooden posts, as additional security measures.
