This rifle is the last weapon of my steampunk series and holds a dominant position in the project. Making the AK was a big challenge as it was tough to keep the look similar to the original gun and also get the steampunk feel overall, the best I could think of doing without altering the look, was to add extra attachments that give it a steampunk look and feel and using a warm colour palette with wear and tear effect on the body, clippers an exception, its brand new, lol!! Although it was a task to achieve the end product, I enjoyed the whole process as its one of my big time favourite assault rifle.

This was a lunchtime project where I wanted to explore baking down high poly details onto a low poly model inside the normal map. All detials were modelled inside 3ds Max as floating geometry and baked down in stages then re-compiled in Quixel’s ndo before texturing in ddo.
