L'hôtel du Lac est un ancien hôtel de style brutaliste construit entre 1970 et 1973 selon les plans de l'architecte italien Raffaele Contigiani. Selon la CNN, l’hôtel du lac, a fortement impressionné le créateur de Sars Wars, dont une large partie du tournage a été faite en Tunisie. L'architecte et militant Sami Aloulou ne cesse pas de lancer des cris d'alarme pour sauver un hôtel souverain batit pour se rebelle contre les formes architecturales traditionnelles et coloniales.
