Hard surface project I did from a concept of Sheng Lam.
In this project, I tried to make the result to be as close as possible as the concept and the most realistic possible as well.
For the parts that are not in the concept, I tried to match the general style of the whole with details that still are hard surface and color matching with the drawing.
The walkman is 33k polys and the tapes are 17k polys (3 to 5k polys each) for a total of 55k polys.

This is the first game asset I have developed and worked on through the whole process. In August, 2017 I have joined French Foreign legion modding discord as a 3d artist, to work on the development of mods for Squad (the game). The first assignment I took over was the mortar. The process took a bit longer ( month or so), since I have a full time job and limited time to work on my solo projects. The process started with research and gathering of all the references possible. Next step was to block out the major parts and start working on the high poly model. The biggest problem was to figure out how the mortar actually works, shoots, moves and folds. After completing the high poly I started modeling the low poly. Next step was to unwrap the whole thing and get it ready for painting. After initial painting was finished I imported everything to Unreal Engine to see how everything looks in the Squad itself.
