Adopted in early 2000s, initially issued for SF units, later on fielded for use by regulars as early as 2003, slowly replacing the PASGT helmet.
First issued ib reversible woodland/desert camo. seen here in the models are the reversible covers, where the desert side has the rear flaps inside-out. starting from 2005 the woodland/desert camos are slowly replaced by the universally-detested yet iconic Universal Camo Pattern.

Body armour/ “flak vest/jacket”, from the Personnel Armour System for Ground Troops set. trialed in the late 70s- early 80s, first widely issued in 1982-83. The body armour is issued en masse before the famous PASGT helmet.
the desert version comes in form of a cover fitted to the vest, instead of a separately manufactured version of the vest in desert camouflage.
