The Heinkel He.111 was a German bomber from the Luftwaffe used on many fronts in Europe and Africa during the WWII. This model is a historical re-enactment of the coded B3+DB aircraft. This plane was integrated in the KG (Kampfgeschwader) 54 unit group. It was based in Quakenbrück in Germany and it was in service during April of 1940. This He.111 was used to bomb French towns during the Battle of France.

We were using Oculus (VR) and it was also going to be small in your field of view, so I knew I had to be efficient with my polygons.

Some of the things the Subject Matter Experts told me to do was to take off the netting, because there was no point… etc…, so I ended up adding little details for fun like the wash bucket and some tires on the sides to add flavor. Grime helps too, cause sea salt tends to just rust anything metal. For that most of the textures were from Quixel megascans that I had to paint a color-coded map, and then Photoshop out the artifacts and other nonsense. Add Weighted Normals from a Maxscript and there ya go. A fully kitted out shrimp boat for Unity!

Something I uploaded for my own use while at work, for help learning how to draw ellipses in perspective, as well as slicing a sphere on x y and z, and placing the ellipses correctly using their minor axes.
I had each ellipse color coded to the corresponding x y & z within the ball, so it was more obvious which is who’s minor axis, but for some reason 3d studio merged all the toruses into one object. so there you go 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 3912 polygons.
