This Project refers to a Ukrainian burlesque poem Eneida (Ukrainian for “Aeneid"), written by Ivan Kotliarevsky. This stone tool was found in ploughsoil in Kent, England.
Quartzite pebble hammers with cental hourglass perforations date from the Mesolithic (c.8000-4000 cal BC). The perforation on this example was made by pecking and was subsequently ground smooth. A wooden handle woud have been inserted through the hole and that was probably bound in position. Small pecked facets on the leading edges indicate that this tool was used as a hammer; it may also have functioned as a weight on a digging stick.
