I took the original artwork by Peyo (the Smurfs creator) and adapted to a 3D environment. It was very fun to work with this art. I tried to keep the artistic aspect (kind of handpaint with watercolor and paint brushes) with a low poly count, but also give a personal touch of realism to the scene. I just miss the fuss of the Smurfs in the scene. Maybe someday I model one smurf and duplicate a bunch of them through the village to make it more fun. I made the concept for the cart in Krita, then sculpted it in Zbrush, 3D modeled it in Blender, and textured it with Substance Painter. My aim was to make sure that the asset would fit in with the game’s environment and art style. Overall, I’m happy with the result.
