My thought is that something went astray with the Thunderbird between 1963 and 1967. My 3D sketch is a proposal for a different aesthetic bridge between the lovely 1963 body style and the somewhat radical departure of 1967. This took 4 hours to do, completely done in 3D while immersed in VR using Gravity Sketch. I had 2D reference pictures in the scene, but all the ideation of the forms was done in 3D.
This is a non-traditional medium (skipping 2D) so I did a bunch of tweaking with post process effects to give it a more grainy textured paper/punchy colors/rendered look … minus the dabs of white gouache for highlights!

5 months ago my first WIP model for this vehicle went up on Sketchfab. From this early WIP wireframe/curve network model, i’ve more recently worked on the NURB surface skinning. The vehicle is designed from inspiration based on a series of books by the author Hugh Howey. This is a vehicle for the planet Lok, in the Molly Fyde books. This cool weapon design was created during a game development with very interesting gameplay. It’s not a real weapon. With it you can change the gravitational alignment in a room in order to walk on walls or ceilings. This enables clever puzzles to be solved.
My job was to create the pure mesh. For various reasons, no classic high poly / low poly was built for texture bakes and the final mesh was textured directly.
