Realistic low-poly (4876 tris) hippopotamus model. Ready for PBR: includes base color, normal, roughness, AO and curvature maps in .png format (2048x2048 px). Metallness wasn't needed in this case. The model can be easily subdivided for smoother appearance if needed, without subdiv it consists of 4876 triangles. Dimensions are: 1.45 x 3.5 x 1.8 m (57.1 x 137,8 x 70,9 inches). The model is not rigged and not animated. The mouth can not be opened, also the tail is connected to the body for the most of its length, be aware of that. Included are .obj and .fbx files, set of textures (separately and layered in .psd file), also there is a Blender file already set up with material and textures applied, so you can open it and render right away if you wish so. “This statuette of a hippopotamus (popularly called “William”) was molded in faience, a ceramic material made of ground quartz. Beneath the blue glaze, the body was painted with lotuses. These river plants depict the marshes in which the animal lived, but at the same time their flowers also symbolize regeneration and rebirth as they close every night and open again in the morning…The hippo’s modern nickname first appeared in 1931 in a story that was published in the British humor magazine Punch. It reports about a family that consults a color print of the Met’s hippo—which it calls “William”—as an oracle. The Met republished the story the same year in the Museum’s Bulletin, and the name William caught on!”
