I put this scene together as a mobile-game MOD for an app called TRUE SKATE

The Staples Center (stairs in front of the Convention Center) is a very famous skate spot.
I spent a good amount of time in Google Earth, and used screenshots from there to make a texture-atlas for the buidings, to make sure things looked right.
Project was modelled and textured in Blender. A couple of the street-costruction props(.fbx) were imprted and placed around, other than that everything was modelled and textured myself.

I needed new houses to the scene / level I’m developing in unreal I’ve seen some concept art online that was basically a multi-stage inn that was made out of a ship with the bottom of the ship being the top of the inn. I took that idea and made a different house. I didn’t really like that, it’s probably the proportions that I still can’t get right, so I made 2 variants and added giant oars, imagined a sotory of 2 old pirates who left stranded after the rest of their crew died and they decided to cut everything they have in half that’s how they made their houses from the 2 halves of the boat, and became fishermen for the nearby town.

I’ve been working on this project since mid January now and it’s finally finished! Everything is modelled in Blender and the textures are painted in Photoshop. Diffuse and Alpha maps only.
I thought I would create a scene with a small story behind it.
The mysterious tiny wizard was experimenting with his rare mandrake Root and home grown crystals. He found an old recepice on how to create a special magic potion with the ancient root. By trying it out, he mixes the wrong ingredients together, which turns out to be a magic spell for opening portals.
