About 6 years ago (jul 19th 2016), I published on Sketchfab one of my first project with Blender. I discovered at the same time the anotation function that I found great to tell stories with a simple 3d model. This model was Yoshi Island. A model that has really aged (and is very ugly too :D). That's why I wanted to update it. All is not perfect but the main thing for me was to see the evolution between these two models.

This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects I’ve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt weren’t my best.
I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born!
Now for this scene, I did something I don’t often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldn’t get anything that looked “grass” you know?
I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future.
