Al llarg dels dos segles d’història de la bicicleta els fabricants han
experimentat amb tota mena de materials per a aconseguir uns
enginys cada vegada més eficients i segurs. Els quadres de les
bicicletes estan sotmesos a una multitud de forces mentre es munta
en bicicleta, pressions, torsions,… per tant no tots els materials
responen de la mateixa manera, canviant les prestacions del vehicle,
en funció dels materials escollits per la seva fabricació, així com la
seva disposició.
Aquesta Souplette està feta principalment de fusta, en destaca que el
quadre està fet per dos barrons de fusta que discorren en paral·lel,
tot dibuixant una forma corba, des del manillar fins a la forquilla,
passant per la roda de darrera. Se’ns dubte calia un gran
coneixement de l’ofici per aconseguir fer un quadre de fusta en forma
