Thai water buffalo vessel, c. 1000 BCE 3D Model 2023-11-07
Thai ceremonial vessel, c. 1000 BCE, now in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

From its description on artsmia.org:

‘This extraordinary ceremonial vessel, one of a group, was discovered in the Lopburi–Pa Sak basin in central Thailand. The oldest settlements in this region date back over three thousand years and have yielded several important Neolithic objects. While a few ceramic depictions of animals in Neolithic and Bronze Age Thailand are known, this water buffalo, which stands as the centerpiece of the group, exhibits an originality, creativity, and superb workmanship that has no comparison in early Thai ceramic art. It is also the largest pottery buffalo known from this period.'

Dish with Sgraffito Decoration, late 12th- early 13th century, now in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art. From its description on artsmia.org: ‘Reportedly found at the ancient trading center of Bamiyan in present-day Afghanistan, this type of dish, with incised design (Sgraffito) and “splashed” with glazes intended to run freely during the firing process became popular in eastern Iran during the Samanid dynasty (819-1005CE). Produced slightly later, this example demonstrates both the precision and spontaneity with which the potter approached their craft. Set within a border of arcaded panels, the central medallion takes the form of an endless knot, a motif found on clay panels from the Indus Valley Civilization (3200-2500 BCE)…’ More infohere Note: the 3D model is made from two sections - the inside and the outside of the dish are not properly aligned 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 64000 polygons.

Yaroslav the Wise, born in 978 and died on 20 February 1054 in Kyiv, was the Grand Prince of Kyiv from 1019. He was the son of Grand Prince Volodymyr the Great and Princess Rohnida of Polatsk, half-brother to Sviatopolk I, Mstyslav Volodymyrovych, and Saints Borys and Hlib, and father to seven princes, including Iziaslav Yaroslavych, Sviatoslav II Yaroslavych, and Vsevolod Yaroslavych. During his father’s reign, Yaroslav governed the lands of Rostov (from around 988) and Novgorod the Great (from 1010). While ruling Novgorod, which became his primary power base, he rebelled against his father by refusing to pay the annual tribute of 2,000 silver hryvni (see Hryvnia) to Kyiv. His father passed away in 1015 while preparing an expedition to subdue Novgorod, and following his death, Yaroslav waged war against his brother Sviatopolk I for the Kyivan throne. He defeated Sviatopolk and his Pecheneg allies (see Pechenegs) at the Battle of Liubech in 1015 and assumed the title of Grand Prince 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 246492 polygons.
