The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is a slow-moving, filter-feeding carpet shark and the largest known extant fish species. The largest confirmed individual had a length of 18.8 m (61.7 ft).[9] The whale shark holds many records for size in the animal kingdom, most notably being by far the largest living nonmammalian vertebrate. It is the sole member of the genus Rhincodon and the only extant member of the family Rhincodontidae, which belongs to the subclass Elasmobranchii in the class Chondrichthyes. Probably my favorite assignment from this semester. As soon as I saw the shark reffrence image I immedietly wanted to make him. Thanks to a little practive and video tutorial watching for how to build a figure in May, I started with making the torso based on a body refrence and worked my way off from there changing the size and shape and adding the arms, legs and head to make my shark real. Texturing was slightly tricky to figure out but I ended up going for a semi emmisive glow markings on my shark character to make him standout 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 8979 polygons.

This piece was a texture/poly count optimization study, and was inspired by the computers in DOOM 2016. I just wanted to see how much detail was achievable with textures alone. I ended up with an extremely low poly model that I am really happy with! I created the model in Maya and textured and rendered it in substance painter 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 416 polygons.
