The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71 metre tall stone statue, built between 713 and 803 (during the Tang dynasty). It is carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sandstones that lies at the confluence of the Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of Sichuan Province in China, near the city of Leshan. The stone sculpture faces Mount Emei, with the rivers flowing below its feet. It is the largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world and it is by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world. It is over 4-kilometre from the Wuyou Temple. The Smith & Wesson Model 61, also called the Escort or Pocket Escort, is a self-defense pistol that was produced from 1970 to 1973. It is a five-shot (plus one in the chamber) semi-automatic recoil-operated pistol firing the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. They came in two variations, blued with faux-wood grips and nickel-plated with faux-ivory grips.
The pistol has been mainly forgotten except for its inclusion in the 1976 film “Taxi Driver” by Martin Scorsese. Robert De Niro’s character, Travis Bickle, creates a quick-draw device that he uses during the shoot-out at the end of the film.
