The story goes that the wife of the brand’s founder, Doña Amalia Bacardi, once saw fruit bats (a species of fruit bat sometimes also called “flying fox”) in the family distillery. She took the animals as a sign of luck, and then, thanks to her thought, they become the emblem of the family business.
