The Mitsubishi G4M has an interesting history and is an interesting dive. See the Sunken Media. project page for details. The exact cause of the crash is still in debate - it is located near the runway with the engines around 80m from the wreck. The debate is around whether it encountered some kind of mechanical issues just after take-off and crashed while attempting to turn back or whether it was on the way back and the engines skimmed along the water surface on impact. The stylized plane model was part of an assignment of the Game Art course at DAE. I had a lot of fun creating the plane so I decided to make a short animation aswell!
Modelled and animated in 3ds max, all textures were made in photoshop.
