Found in 2007 at Arles, in the Rhône river right bank, this life-size portrait has been cut by an exceptional sculptor in a high quality marble, most often used for imperial orders. If face presents assumed features of Julius Caesar, lack of inscriptions does not identify it for sure.

This portrait, type 2, when Gallien (reign 253-268) becomes the only emperor (he reigned previously with his father Valerian), illustrates perfectly the return to classicism typical of the second half of the reign.
