A third assignment done for university! In this project, I wanted to try a more realistic approach for the textures, experiment with normal maps direcly in Substance Painter and explore all the different tools and possibilities that offers the program. I was also very happy to get the occasion to pay tribute to one of the first, good animes I got to watch! The project I’ve been working on based on concept art by the talented #arielperez.
I learned alot about the Production Pipline and different workflows while working on him. I also ran into a lot of thecnical issues (mainly baking, it’s always baking lol) while making this guy, and I worked through most of the hardware issues by googling, banging my head against the wall, and a ton of patience.
The model was mostly done in zbrush (high poly), retoplogized and uv unwrapped in maya(low poly), normals/Ao/Curve/Thickness maps baked in xnormal, textured in substance painter and finally rendered in marmoset toolbag.
