I created this model based on references from the actual movie props and some amazingly faithful replicas.
The geometry is relatively light weight for use in game engines. The counter animation is geometry based, so it can be used dynamically and adressed by code.
Complete with 4K PBR textures.
My motivation for this piece came from rewatching the Aliens movies. I took this as an opportunity to learn Substance Painter and figure out how to bake maps for a more complex model like this.
It’s also always interesting to learn a few things about design in general and about the object you’re researching in specific.
When researching references it helped me to find out that parts of this design are based on real life rifles like the “M1A1 Thompson” and the “Spas 12” shotgun 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 7959 polygons.

This relief likely hanged from a small resthouse in the Himalayas in the 16th century. Objects like this were believed to bring good fortune, and the favor of the pantheon of Hindu gods.
You can see a pretty rich mythological narrative here, and it is important to remember, devotees of Hinduism in this region believe that Shiva, Parvati, and their entourage live on top of Mount Kailash. Mount Kailash is the source of legends, myths, and odd speculation. From a public policy fordidding alpinists to climb the cone-shaped mountain, to claims by “ancient astronaut theorists” that Kailash is a ancient nuclear power plant. It also happens to be the birthplace of Hinduism, Budhism, Jainsim, and Bon.
