The Typhoon class, Soviet designation Project 941 Akula (Russian: Акула, meaning “shark", NATO reporting name Typhoon), is a class of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines designed and built by the Soviet Union for the Soviet Navy. The Borei class, alternate transliteration Borey, Russian designation Project 955A Borei-A, are a series of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines being constructed by Sevmash for the Russian Navy.
Units of the Project 955A include improved communication and detection systems, improved acoustic signature and have major structural changes such as addition of all moving rudders and vertical endplates to the hydroplanes for higher maneuverability. Besides, they are equipped with hydraulic jets and improved screws that allow them to sail at nearly 30 knots while submerged with minimal noise. Study sculpt of a Tulkun, a whale-like creature from the upcoming Avatar sequel The Way Of Water. Done entirely in Nomad Sculpt for iPad.
Since my sculpting skills are limited the topology is really messy and all over the place, haha. Also there aren’t many references for this creature abailable yet, so considering all of this I think it turned out okay-ish.
Can’t wait to meet this magnificent creature on the big screen in December 2022!
