The island of Rapa Nui or Easter island is believed to have been first settled in the 1200’s by polynesian voyagers. Located 3,500 kilometers (2,100 miles) from the The settlers to the island carved giant stone statues called moai which were carved to represent individuals.

Estas estatuas erigidas sobre los ahu o plataformas son el símbolo por excelencia de Rapa Nui. Durante el desarrollo cultural, los colonos polinesios construyeron estas plataformas en territorio costero y de interior. Un ahu es un espacio sagrado debido que en su mayoría alberga en su interior restos de los ancestros rapanui.
Sobre estos se encuentran los moai, figuras antropomorfas talladas en diversas formas y tamaños que representan a un integrante de cada familia en la cual se encuentra ubicado cada ahu. This work is based on a Sketchup-file. Unfortunately I don´t remember the name of its author. Anyway, thanks for the great model! Several years ago I converted and repaired it into a watertight STL-file. Sadly the resolution of the model is only useful for printing in small scales.
My purpose is to provide watertight STL-files for you, which can easily be modified for 3D-printing, according to your references. Therefore, most of my models are not repaired into one single shell. This may be a bit more difficult for the preparation of the build, but helps you a lot, if you want to personalize the model. E.g. if you want to seperate parts, such as wheels or to remove delicate details like wipers etc.
Before printing, please check out if you have to modify the model, depending on the favored size of your print and the requirements of your printer. I hope you enjoy it. Happy printing!
