This is a model of an English Saker cannon from the 1600s that was used on the Royal Navy's ships. This model was created in Blender and textured in Adobe Substance Painter. It has 2048x2048 PBR textures that consists of Albedo, Metalic, Height, Normal and Roughness Currently has dirt textures on however these can be removed for a more clean look. Most of the portals I have seen are either stone or metal, so I wanted to create a stylised wooden, rustic Portal with some wood paint dye that has faded edges. Something that you may find in a medieval fantasy or the witcher.
I used blender to create the model and substance painter to texture it.
Most of the model is texture painted, aside from the painting that I stencilled around the base and there are some wood fibres that are procedurally generated. I created a particle system in blender and use a vertex force to get them to rotate. Blender doesn’t have a built in way to export animated particles, so I found a script online that I ran in Blender to convert the particle system to an animated mesh.
