Windmill from the village of Bogdanka near Juchnowiec (Podlasie) from 1945 translocated to the open-air museum of the Podlasie folk-cultural museum located in Wasilkow. The object is a 27-hectare area, on which more than 30 wooden objects were located. Windmill type: wood dutch. It is one of three objects that we have scanned together with Monika Urbańczyk at the Museum of Folk Culture. This is also my first approach to scan an object of this size. The lighthouse of the City of Chania on the island of Crete is the most recognizable part of the city and one of the oldest in the world. It is 21m high build on stone base and is located at the entrance of the Ancient harbour’s pier of The Fortress of Firkas. Build by the Venetians at the end of the 16th century it was reconstructed by the Egyptians in the form of minaret during the Egyptian period around 1830-40. During the Turkish Occupation, the lighthouse was abandoned. The current lighthouse tower is mounted on a trapezoidal base which holds since the Venetian Era. The tower is divided in three parts: an octagonal lower part, the middle part with sixteen sides, and the third part which is circular. The lighthouse was leaning badly due to bombings during WWII and earthquakes but was renovated in 2005-6. Bronze statue located next to the City Park (Stadspark) of Antwerp (Belgium). The statue was cast in Paris by F. Barbedienne, from an original stone sculpture by Marcel Bourbier. The piece was part of the French pavillion during the World Fair of 1930 in Antwerp, and was later gifted to the city of Antwerp by the city of Paris. The original stone sculpture has since disappeared (a smaller bronze cast is on display in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nîmes / EDIT: apparently the original is now at Hearst Castle in California!). This beautiful, innocent scene foreshadows a tragic ending; the girl depicted in the sculpture, Marcelle Battu, was later accused of collabortion with the German occupiers and sentenced to death by the Military Court of Nîmes.
