Although crocodylians have markedly flatter skulls than their ancestors, Paleosuchus has a markedly more vertical skull than its living relatives and its temporal muscles are also rather vertcially oriented. The Rectus Femoris is the only muscle head of the Quads that crosses over the hip joint and attaches onto the Pelvis.
