Phần trên (bộ lọc) là bình chứa cà phê bột khi pha, có thể tháo rời; bên trong đáy có những lỗ nhỏ để lọc cà phê, khi pha người ta sẽ dùng 1 miếng vải để lót vào bên trong đáy để ngăn cho bã cà phê không bị chảy xuống dưới ấm. Khi nước sôi nóng được cho vào bột cà phê, mất khoảng vài phút để cà phê nhỏ giọt xuống ấm chứa bên dưới. Phần ấm chứa phình to bên dưới, thu nhỏ về phía miệng, có tay cầm uốn cong mềm mại gắn vào thân ấm; quai cách nhiệt.Không như các quốc gia nhiệt đới, khí hậu ở Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ về mùa đông rất lạnh, chính vì vậy người dân ở đây luôn ưa chuộng các thức uống nóng ấm!
