This wooden hand was scanned using photogrammetry with a Sony A7RV through a total of 1400 images. The images had 61MP and were processed in Reality Capture. Provided by me are PBR textures:
Diffuse: 8k Normal: 8k Smoothness: 8k AO: 4k Cavity: 4k and Highpoly + Lowpoly retopoligized models. In the preview above you can only see the lowpoly model with normals created from the highpoly model. All models are in separated files. This is a model of an 18th Century English hanger sword that I made originally using RealityCapture. I’ve returned to my original model, retopologized it, reworked the textures, and cleaned it up in some spots that needed manual attention. I’m quite happy with the result, and look forward to incorporating retopology in to my workflow more frequently.
The blade is in excellent condition, and the hilt is a finely crafted work of silver. Both maintain an almost mirrored finish, presenting an enormous challenge to capture through photogrammetry. The initial model turned out okay considering the conditions, but several parts of the model had issues with continuity of the normals due to the nature of the more random topology of the model RealityCapture produced. This results in razor edges looking rough and jagged, as well as the smooth mirrored surfaces appearing lumpy and unfinished.

If there is one essential monument in Vigo, that’s the monument to Jules Verne (42.241217, -8.722885). The great writer devoted a chapter to “The Bay of Vigo” in one of his most famous books, 20,000 Leagues under the Sea, fuelling the legend of the Rande treasure with the adventures of its popular main character, Captain Nemo, and his famous Nautilus. Jules Verne even came to visit the city some time after writing the novel, so in his honour and on the centenary of his death (2005), the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Pontevedra commissioned this bronze sculpture from local artist José Molares and donated it to the city. Since then, the writer has been sitting on the tentacles of a giant squid in the Avenidas, next to the Montero Ríos gardens.
