Surface scan of the skull of a bear from the D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum at the University of Dundee. Ursus arctos - Brown Bear. DUNUC 2030. Length= 43cm. Acquired by D'Arcy Thompson in Kamchatka, Siberia, during his Bering Sea expeditions of 1896-7. Scanned with an Artec Eva surface scanner. The resulting file is exported as an obj. and imported into Zbrush. The texture is captured during the scanning process and converted to Polypaint in Zbrush. Cooperation with our friends at G-3D-PrintThe front cover of the jetski was scanned using Artec Leo in 15 minutes (including chalc sraying, markers, etc.) and the post-process workflow took about 60 minutes in Artec Studio. The jetski belongs to the world champion György Kasza and his team. The purpose of the scan is to make a perfect fit bespoke fabricated composite cover, therefore some reverse engineering was necessary to get a native CAD data (step) to be able to machine the mold for the composite. For this, weve sed Quicksurface’s Autosurface option to get the nurbs surface based on the HQ mesh. Species of these apex predators could reach a height up to 3 meters! They lived mainly in South America from the early Tertiary (55 million years ago) until the late glacial period.

There is no complete dodo skeleton left, nevertheless the NHM Vienna owns one of the most complete skeletons. Dodos lived exclusively on the islands of Mauritius and Reunion. The last dodo probably went extinct about 1690.
The dodo is Number 80 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 31 of the NHM Vienna.

In Austria the black swan is an alien species which breeds irregularly elsewhere. In Vienna a breeding population with up to 170 individuals became extinct in the late nineties.
The exhibited specimen has been donated to the NHM Vienna in 1921 by the “Tiergarten Schönbrunn”.
This black swan can be found in Hall 30 of the Natural History Museum Vienna.
