This is a model of a low-poly and game-ready scifi weapon. The weapon is composed of separate meshes that can be animated with a keyframe animation tool. The following modular equipment is included in this model pack: 6 types of ammunition, silencer, duckbill, 2 types of ironsights, 2 reflex sights, one scope, 3 picatinny rails, foregrip, 2 flashlights, 2 laser sights, 3 shotgun shell holders. The model comes with several differently colored texture sets. The PSD file with intact layers is included. VKS (ВКС) or VSSK (ВССК) is a Russian bullpup, straight-pull bolt-action, magazine-fed sniper rifle chambered for the 12.7×55mm STs-130 subsonic round. The weapon is also known by the name VSSK and the additional name Vykhlop (Выхлоп), “Exhaust”, which comes from the development program. It was developed in around 2002 for the special force units of FSB.
The 12.7×55mm VKS silenced sniper rifle is intended for special operations that require silent firing and penetration much superior to that provided by 9×39mm VSS silenced sniper rifle. I created this model based on references from the actual movie props and some amazingly faithful replicas.
The geometry is relatively light weight for use in game engines. The counter animation is geometry based, so it can be used dynamically and adressed by code.
Complete with 4K PBR textures.
My motivation for this piece came from rewatching the Aliens movies. I took this as an opportunity to learn Substance Painter and figure out how to bake maps for a more complex model like this.
It’s also always interesting to learn a few things about design in general and about the object you’re researching in specific.
When researching references it helped me to find out that parts of this design are based on real life rifles like the “M1A1 Thompson” and the “Spas 12” shotgun. 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 7959 polygons.
